[Cosplay] Shopping

The plan for today was to go out, get a few supplies, then come home. It sort of went like that- but not really.

I desperately needed new shoes for work: I was nearly crying from pain when I came home yesterday, my feet hurt so much. See, I have very high, falling arches which means shoes with flat foot beds (the most common) wreck havoc on my feet. Moreover, I have Morton's neuroma, so heels are a bad idea for more than a couple of hours. If that wasn't enough, My feet are triple-a narrow, so finding anything that fits and has a high arch, with no heel is ridiculously difficult. *sighs*

I checked out one store today that was close to where I live, but when they didn't have anything that fit the bill I decided to drive to Mesa where there is a specialty shoe store that could certainly solve my issues. It took a decent chunk out of my day (and my wallet), sure, with the other errands I had to run, but it was worth it! I'm so looking forward to wearing shoes at work tomorrow that won't make me want to chop my feet off!

It was a successful venture in other ways too:

First off, I found over three yards of fabric for Utena at Savers for just $3! It is not, admittedly, exactly what I was envisioning, but for that price, I'll work it. >D I had placed it in the wash, then decided to photograph it. The dark corner is where it was already wet.

With some searching I located and purchased some silk Asiatic Lilies to use as a prop for Julia. I also found some cording that is miraculously the perfect color for the cords on Julia's belt. And along with these, I now have a long white wig that I will be dying, because aqua/pale blue wigs are about impossible to find. The clerk at the costume store was certainly helpful, and, surprisingly enough, knew what KKM was. I was gobsmacked!

Note to self: purchase some sharpie markers and another Styrofoam head.

So Julia is nearly complete, with just the rest of the belt remaining, and then the wig.  Next on the to-do list is Lulu, who I would like to have done by Saboten. I'm not sure Silurian will be going, but then she'll at least have it for Halloween.

Speaking of Halloween, I'd like to have Utena done by that point. My original plan will probably not be done in time, so we'll postpone that, and Julia is to fluttery and white to wear to work: I'd hate to stain that dress! Utena is a great choice though, since she won't be too difficult, and will be comfortable enough in October- since I won't have to worry about 'white Halloween's anymore. XD
