There's a plan in place to be out with some friends later this week and have a photo shoot. These plans are subject to change at any minute, especially since work switched things up on me. We originally planned for Thursday, but now I have Friday off instead. I have yet to hear back from everyone, so we'll see if we can still do it this week- I'm keeping all of my fingers crossed!
The past couple of days have been days of absolutely no progress on the cosplay front. I found scorpions at my apartment (one inside and one on my patio), and promptly freaked out. If it had just been one outside, I wouldn't have worried so much, but one inside? That disappeared before I could catch it? There was no way I was going to be able to sleep! So, I disappeared to my brothers' and took my cats with me. The apartment office took pity on me and called out the pest control services five days early, because I told them I was not stay in my apartment until I knew things were taken care of. (If curious, the whole story is here.)
It took a while for me to convince myself last night, that things really were okay, and any scorpions still in this place would be dead. However, I had sort of a brainwave while I stayed up, so it's all good. =D
In that possible photo shoot later this week I will (mostly like) be wearing Sailor Moon. She;d done, looks great and needs photos! Or rather, nearly done: I remembered that my spats were fairly lousy and weren't at all what I wanted people to see in in pictures. That means I need to make new ones, stat!!!
Boot patterns that aren't crocheted, knitted, and/or felted are few and far between, and I really don't feel like paying for a pattern. >.> I mean, it's not the sort of pattern I can march down to JoAnn's for and purchase when on sale. Now, here is that brainwave I mentioned: I do know how to make a basic pair of medieval/renaissance shoes, and while they're not quite what I would want, I can adjust them. Over one of these simple shoes, I will be making another pair of spats: not full cover spats, but 19th century style spats- sort of. They'll have zippers instead of buttons; and will be knee length and all the rest of it. But they should look awesome! (In theory.) I'll just have to decide now if elastic around the foot is enough to keep them in place, or if I want to make them snap or attach to the shoes. =3
I've nearly have all of Lulu's details worked out. Since she's a fairly complicated costume, I want to be sure over everything before I start cutting. I'm sticking with my originally decision on which corset to use. It's more work, but I think it'll be better for Jackie. And it seems we had planned things wrong for the skirt pattern, but that's no real big deal and easy to fix. Look for construction updates soon! Provided there are no more scorpions in this place. >.>
