First, Lulu is pretty much done. Silurian and I missed each other, thanks to my tire blowing out, and so I wasn't able to hand it off to her before Halloween. Bummer. It needs the lace that Sil was working on, and the belts still need to be attached, but all the rest of it is done.
I painted the interior of the of the skirts pleather, in lieu of lining it. Painting was easier, and less expensive- albeit, a bit messy. The corset is finally done, after multiple attempts to obtain the correct bias tape. Oh my gosh, that was a pain. And the eyelets are installed, twelve sets total up the back. All in all, I'm proud of how well she turned out.
I was, of course, down to the wire with two costumes. Arwen is nearly complete. I've worn her (incomplete) to two functions.
The first function, our second "Cosplay Day at ASU", went well. We had some 8-10 people there (depending on the time), and was a blast. On the other hand, I hope we don't get too clique-ish, if you know what I mean. If the whole point is to invite people to come and enjoy the afternoon with us, we don't want to make them feel unwelcome.
Since then I have also extended the upper sleeves. For the dress, all that now remains is to add the last of the silver trim, reattach the lower sleeves, and add a longer zipper to the underdress. Nothing to difficult, or time consuming.
I have made the butterflies out of silver sculpy, and have convinced my brothers to teach me how to solder so I can make the rest of the head piece out of wire. The goal is to have that done my Taiyou Con in January.
