One Coat with Epaulets

Not much to tell on Utena right now, sadly enough. The shell, seen here, is stitched up- with epaulets no less! I love the official image that the epaulets lend. So cool. The lining, not shown because it is simply unexciting, is also sewn together.

I've cut the sleeves too long, because any sleeves on any and all patterns are always to short. It is much easier to cut things too long then adjust them, than too short from the beginning. But they do look pretty funny right now. Also, the whole coat is too long, for Utena. There will be no adjustment of the length until I have the petticoat finished and can determine where best to hem it.

The fixes must wait until I get to the fabric store. The shoulder pads must be installed before I can combine the shell and lining and proceed with construction. And there will be no petticoats until I have appropriate fabric. I was supposed to visit said store today- then was called in early to work. Hopefully tomorrow, and if not, then Friday.
